Roosted Reporting Center: Build Custom Shift Reports

Introducing the Roosted Reporting Center

At Roosted, we’ve always focused on helping teams run smarter. Scheduling is at the heart of what we do, but we know that scheduling is only the first step. Once shifts are assigned and work is complete, the real questions begin:

  • How many hours did we schedule for each client this month?
  • Where are we overspending on overtime?
  • Which events or facilities require the most staff, and how does that affect margins?

That’s why we built the Roosted Reporting Center.

This new feature gives you a powerful way to turn your shift data into clear, custom reports that you can actually use. Whether you need insights for payroll, client billing, or operational planning, the Reporting Center helps you get answers fast—without digging through spreadsheets or waiting for finance to send you data.

How it works

Inside your Roosted Admin panel, you’ll now see a new section called Report Center. This is your hub for building personalized reports based on shift-level data, specifically the workers and hours that keep your operation running.

Getting started is easy:

  • Create a new report with a clear name (like “Client Total Shifts Report”).
  • Add up to three sheets for different views of your data.
  • Customize fields by choosing from text, variable, or formula options.
  • Run the report and download it once it’s ready.

You can even include totals, add blank rows for readability, and filter by time frame. The result is a clean, downloadable file that fits right into your payroll, client reporting, or planning workflows.

Why every business needs a reporting center

A good reporting system isn’t just about convenience. It protects your business, saves money, and builds trust with clients. Here’s why it matters:

Cost savings

Labor is one of the biggest expenses for any staffing-based business. With the Reporting Center, you can spot unnecessary overtime, manage scheduling more efficiently, and forecast labor costs before payroll hits. That means fewer surprises and more control over your budget.

Compliance and liability protection

Wage and hour laws, overtime rules, and union agreements can be complex. A reporting system gives you the records you need to prove compliance if questions come up. If you ever face an audit or dispute, your reports are your best defense.

Client transparency

Clients want to know what they’re paying for. With clear, professional reports, you can show exactly how many shifts were scheduled, how many hours were worked, and what it cost. That transparency builds trust and helps you win repeat business.

Operational visibility

Accurate reports highlight trends you might miss otherwise. Maybe a particular venue always requires extra staff. Maybe a certain event type tends to run into overtime. With visibility like this, you can make proactive decisions instead of reacting after the fact.

Faster decision-making

Managers and finance teams shouldn’t have to wait for data. With the Reporting Center, they can pull reports on demand, make informed decisions, and keep operations moving without unnecessary delays.

Real-world use cases

To put it into perspective, here are a few ways our customers might use the Reporting Center:

  • Event staffing company: Generate a monthly “Client Shifts Report” to invoice clients with exact shift counts and total hours worked.
  • Security firm: Track overtime across different job sites to stay compliant with state labor laws.
  • Healthcare staffing agency: Create reports segmented by facility and role to ensure proper staffing coverage and compliance with union rules.
  • Catering company: Pull year-to-date reports on labor costs per event type to refine pricing and staffing strategies.

In each case, the Reporting Center gives you a clear picture of what’s happening in your business, so you can act with confidence.

Why now

We built the Reporting Center because our customers told us they needed a better way to make sense of their data. Staffing is unpredictable by nature. Without strong reporting, it’s too easy for costs to creep up, for compliance issues to go unnoticed, or for clients to feel left in the dark.

This feature turns your scheduling data into a competitive advantage. Instead of relying on guesswork, you can use real numbers to plan, communicate, and grow.
